Overview

Situated about 172 km south of Kathmandu, Chitwan National Park is the most popular national park in Nepal. It covers an area of about 632 km2 and encompasses the plains as well as the forest of the hilly region. Some parts of the park are covered by dense elephant grass along with forests of Sisam, Cotton, and Acacia trees. The area is ecologically diverse with a wide variety of lush verdant vegetation. Moreover, Chitwan National Park is one of the most wildlife-rich places in Nepal. Hence, Chitwan Jungle Safari is one of the must-do activities in Nepal.

A Sanctuary of Rare Species

The park is also a sanctuary for some rare species of birds and animals. Animals like One-horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Rhesus Monkey, Wild Boar, Sloth, etc. are some endangered species found in the national park. The rivers there also have dolphins as well as rare species of Crocodiles. Furthermore, there are more than 500 species of birds found in the area. These birds include herons, storks, cranes, hawks, falcons, parakeets, cuckoos, kingfishers, and swallows, among others. You can witness all these things in the Chitwan National Park Safari.

More than Just Safari

Additionally, there are several more activities that you can involve in Chitwan. You can ride the elephant around the jungle, enjoying the wildlife and vegetation as you go. You may do a Jeep Safari if you want to explore the wilderness quickly, and bathe in the Rapti River with the elephants. Also, you can walk around Tharu village and understand their culture. Additionally, you can visit the elephant breeding centre, which houses hundreds of elephants.
