Also known as the Gateway to Everest, Lukla also has the world’s highest airport. As you fly, you’ll see an endless chain of the Himalayan Mountains. The helicopter makes a brief stopover at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla for refuelling. We’ll then take off again towards the mountains. This ride offers trekkers with backpacks walking like trailing on the mountain grooves and flying over Sherpa villages and holy monasteries. You’ll view the Khumbu Glacier as you hover above the Everest Base Camp. The base camp will be filled with colourful tented camps during the climbing season. The helicopter will then stop at Kala Patthar where you’ll take pictures and enjoy the view of Nuptse, Lobuche, Pumori and Mount Everest. You’ll enjoy some close-up views of 8000-meter peaks. Read Before You Book The Ride.
1. The helicopter ride may delay due to visibility blur within the 1 km range, air traffic and lengthier weather confirmation. In such cases, replacement flights are made on the next day on mutual understanding.
2. If the return ride is cancelled due to bad weather, we will try our best to arrange the accommodation but the expenses need to be paid by the clients themselves.
3. In a shared ride, the cost is divided per person. Apart from the bad weather, the flight can be cancelled if any member of the ride cancels the ride.
4. If any member of the flight cancels the ride during share riding, the flight will only continue if the replacement is found or if the remaining members are willing to bear the cost of a missing person.
5. If the landing is not possible at the targeted destination due to bad weather, the clients can choose an alternate destination. However, a refund will not be done during such cases.
6. 25% of the total flight cost should be paid as a booking amount and the remaining 80 % between 2 to 6 days. However, there will be no refund if the client cancels the ride in the last hour.
Due to recent prohibitions on helicopter landings at Kalapatthar by the Nepal government, we have modified our Everest Helicopter Tour itinerary as follows:
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport. From there, you will take a helicopter flight to Lukla. After reaching Lukla, you will fly in the helicopter to Pheriche.
The main highlights of the aerial tour from Pheriche will include:
- Flying over Everest Base Camp
- An aerial view of Kalapatthar
- Flying over Cho La Pass
- Taking in views of Gokyo Valley from the helicopter
After completing the exploration by helicopter, you will land at the Everest View Hotel for a breakfast stopover that could last 30 minutes to 1 hour (ground time may be extended due to helicopter flight scheduling).
Finally, you will take the helicopter back to Kathmandu via Lukla to conclude your Everest helicopter sightseeing tour.

ITINERARY
We will get on a private vehicle from our hotel which will take us to the airport. It is best to start early as the skies near the mountains remain clear in the morning. We get on our helicopter and fly towards Lukla. We’ll enjoy some magnificent views of Kathmandu before heading towards the mountains. We’ll fly above the snow-capped peaks before reaching Lukla. Upon landing at Tenzing-Hillary airport, the helicopter will refuel the tank.
Then, we take off again and fly towards the Everest Base Camp. Here, the helicopter will hover for a while before heading towards Kala Patthar. Situated at the height of 5545m, this viewpoint offers some extraordinary views of the Himalayas along with Everest. Since the altitude is high and the oxygen level low, we will only stop here for 15 minutes.
We’ll stop at Syangboche for breakfast where we enjoy the magnificent view of Everest, Ama Dablam, Khumbu Himal. We then get back on our helicopter and head back towards Kathmandu. Upon returning to Kathmandu, our Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour comes to an end.
