A hike to a gorgeous village to the north of Pokhara, Ghandruk Trek is one of the most beautiful and popular treks of Pokhara. It offers some grandiose views of Annapurna and stunning sunrise and sunset. Moreover, the place has a beautiful Gurung community with excellent views of Machhapuchhre and Himchuli as well.

The major attraction of Ghandruk is the distinctive culture of the Gurungs. They will entertain visitors with their traditional dances and also offer them ethnic dresses and ornaments. Moreover, the local cuisines are also popular food among tourists who love the unique taste and flavor. Additionally, you can experience horse riding in the village and snow during winter on the upper hill.

The village is also called a stone village. It has steps made of stone, and even the roofs of the houses are made of stone. The trail of the Ghandruk trek is also easy, and the Ghandruk altitude is 2,012 meters, so it is perfect for first-time trekkers. In addition, Ghandruk village mostly has pleasant weather and moderate temperature.

  1. day 1

    Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel

    Highest Altitude 1400 m

    After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be picked up by a private vehicle and drop you off at your hotel. You can rest in your hotel room and get rid of your jet lag from your flight to Kathmandu.

    In Kathmandu, you will be placed in a deluxe hotel. You will be provided with breakfast in the morning. So, rest well for we have a lot of new things to experience in the morning.

  2. day 2

    Fly or Drive to Pokhara

    Flight Hours 25 mins

    Trek Duration 7-8 hours drive

    Our third day is filled with beautiful scenic views from the ride to Pokhara, we will take a tourist bus to get to Pokhara from Kathmandu. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful surrounding views of the landscapes and the mountains. We will stop on the way for lunch and reach Pokhara in around 6-7 hours. We will have dinner in Pokhara and stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

    You can also take a flight to Pokhara which takes about 25 mins.

  3. day 3

    Drive from Pokhara to Hemja and Trek to Pothana

    Trek Duration 6-7 hours

    We begin our journey by getting on a private vehicle that will take us to Hemja. It is just a 20-minute ride. From there we start our trek. We will then traverse through slightly steep pathways to Astam.

    We will pass through rhododendron trees and pine trees along with lush vegetation. We will reach Astam after 2 hours of hike. After having lunch, we will start our hike from Astam to Pothana.

    We will pass through Dhampus as well as Australian Camp on the way. The total trek consists of about 6 hours of hiking on the easy and straight trail.

  4. day 4

    Trek from Pothana to Landruk

    Highest Altitude 1890 m / 6200 ft
    Trek Duration 6 hrs

    After breakfast, we begin our Trek towards Ghandruk. We ascend uphill for about an hour to Deurali. From there, we will traverse steep downhill to reach Tolkha. We descend further to reach Landruk.

  5. day 5

    Trek from Landruk to Ghandruk

    Highest Altitude 2012 m / 6600 ft
    Trek Duration 5-6 hrs

    We explore the village and enjoy the view in the morning. After having lunch, we descend down to the valley. We then cross the Modi Khola via a suspension bridge and hike uphill. After 4 hours of hike, we will reach the village of Ghandruk.

  6. day 6

    Drive from Ghandruk to Pokhara

    Highest Altitude 800 m / 2624 ft
    Trek Duration 1 hour hike

    We will explore the village of Ghandruk in the morning. We will explore the Gurung culture and also visit the popular museum in the village. In the afternoon, we will take a bus ride back to Pokhara which takes about 3 hours.
