Kalikasthan Day Hike allows you to explore some untouched cultural villages around Begnas Lake. Also, we can behold two of the lakes out of seven lakes in the Pokhara valley. The place offers astounding vistas of the Himalayas and Gurung Village settlements along the route.

The villagers strictly follow the traditional Gurung cultures so, we get to peek at the typical village lifestyle. The extended form of this trek is the Royal trek Nepal, one of the renowned short treks of the Annapurna region.

More About This Hike

Most of the Hike on the periphery of Pokhara valley offers a tranquil view of the serene Fewa Lake. Different from that, this trek grants an opportunity to gawk at the equally famed Begnas lake and Rupa lake.

Along the hike, we are encompassed by terraced fields, farmlands, lush vegetation and scattered settlements. This trek is hugely dominated by the Gurungs however, we can find locals of other ethnic groups in some villages. Also, we can savour the local cuisines while gazing at the majestic Himalayas like Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchhre, and other mountains of the Annapurna region.

Moreover, after the completion, we can opt to do boating in Begnas lake. However, Rupa lake doesn't offer any kind of services.

We will drive to Begnas Lake via a private vehicle. From there, we will begin our Kalikasthan Day Hike. We will ascend for about 45 minutes to reach Kalikasthan village, which is a small Gurung settlement. The place provides magnificent views of the Annapurna Massif and an exclusive glimpse into the local culture.

From there, we will continue our day hike uphill for one hour to reach Thulkote, which is a comparatively large settlement. The site offers some stunning views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre along with the beautiful Pokhara valley. We will also be able to see both Phewa and Begnas Lakes.

After spending some time and having lunch at Thulkote, we will begin walking downhill. We will pass along terraced farmlands and green forests before reaching Kaulekote. It is another settlement that houses people of numerous ethnicities. We will quickly explore the village and descend further.

Finally, after 3 hours of a downhill hike, we will arrive at the other end of Begnas Lake. We will then take a boat ride to cross the lake and have some food at the local restaurants. Then, we will ride back to Pokhara.
