Overview

Sikles is a beautiful and remarkably well-preserved village situated on a small hill at an elevation of about 2000 m. Sikles village's short trek takes you to distant communities that are quaint and gorgeous. This trek is a fantastic short trek and traverses a variety of terrain from low-elevation villages to mid-hill settlements. Mostly, Gurung communities inhabit this place. Moreover, the place is filled with lush green vegetation along with rhododendron trees.

Short Duration with Satisfying Rewards

The trek begins with a drive from Pokhara to Hemja which takes about 20 minutes. Sikles lies on north of Pokhara. The trail passes through the less-visited territory of the Annapurna region and Lamjung Himal.

Furthermore, it includes a wide range of flora and fauna along with some beautiful views of the Himalayan Mountains such as Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Lamjung, and Manaslu. The three days two nights Sikles trek is a quiet trail with less number of trekkers. Also, this remote trek offers some stunning experiences and sceneries.

More About Sikles Village

Sikles village trek is not a high-altitude trekking so, the chances of altitude sickness are almost zero. This village is inhabited by the Gurung people who are known for their bravery during the world war.

The people of this beautiful village mainly speak the Gurung language. They are very friendly and known for their hospitality towards the guest. The Gurung village reflects the ancient cultures and traditions.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

    • Teahouse accommodation during the trek, during the trek.

      • Breakfast: Cereal, Porridge, rice pudding, egg dish with bread and toast, bread with jam and honey, Pancakes with jam and honey, with tea or coffee.

Sikles Trek Trip Information

Sikles trek is a short 3-day trip where the first day we drive to Sikles from Pokhara. The drive is about 4 hours long. We will spend the night at a teahouse in Sikles.

The next day we will visit the Sikles viewpoint which takes about an hour to reach from the Sikles village. We then return to our hotel to have the day’s meal. Then we will leave to hike towards Tangting.

Food and accommodation

We will be accommodating in teahouses during the Sikles Trek. You will find decent rooms and facilities. You can either share or have a single room as per your choice.

We will be eating the main Nepali food i.e. Dal, Bhaat, Tarkari (Rice, Lentil soup, cooked vegetables), and pickles for our lunch and dinner. Besides that, you can find other menu items like pizza, chips, pasta, noodles, milk tea, chocolates, bread, etc.

Best time to Visit

The best time to trek in Nepal is during spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November). These times provide pleasant weather, moderate temperature, and clear skies that offer the best view of the village and the mountains.

Permit Requirements for the Sikles trek

As the trekking destination is inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, it requires a permit from the Nepal government for tourists. You need to have a TIMS card and ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit) which you can receive at the Tourism Information Center in Pokhara. For issuing the permit, you need to bring the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Insurance
  • 2 photographs (pp-size)
