Once the Forbidden Kingdom was opened to foreigners, it attracted many people to trek, research, and learn Tibetan traditions contributing to its economy directly or indirectly.

Upper Mustang, also called the  “ Kingdom of Lo” consists of rich culture and tradition. Since it is bordered by Tibet, Its religious and cultural practices are directly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. In the Kingdom of Lo, a Tibetan language called Loke is spoken. However, due to exposure to other languages such as Nepali and English, they are also spoken by the new generations.
